yesterday morning started my day with stott pilates secrets to toned arms, buns, and thighs. this was more intense version of matwork with some balance challenges but not overly hard. the point with pilates is not to feel the "burn" but to feel the body elongating and being graceful. it works, when done correctly, and will have you feeling great.
in the afternoon i did a 30 min hill climb walk. i got that treadmill up to a 13% incline. my heartrate was in the 70-75% range. shows that lower impact and seemingly lower intensity doesn't always mean easy and not working the body. i love these hill climbs so much this week i am thinking of extended my active rest week, well at least in the cardio aspect.
this morning i was tempted to go balls to the wall high impact sweaty intensity but i forced myself to take it easy. the whole point of active rest is to ease back a bit so the body can repair itself from all the high intensity work i have been doing for so long. i went with cathe friedrich's basic step.i raised the step to an 8inch height. there is no jumping around here but i did get a workout with that step level. the choreography is so basic for me that i just focused on form instead of trying to keep up.
i plan on barre work later.
