ugh what a morning LOL. started with one hour delay for schools, to closed. so my intentions to do a longer workout were good until viola comes out of her room the look of guilt. she broke my digital camera. then dh got up and took all her care bears and stuffed toys away. so what i started didn't get finished!!
well i started with body max(the first original one) doing the warm up then skipped to all upper body and abs. now this workout itself is a super long hour and a half workout but the upper body/abs alone is about 34 minutes. since i got the call right after i finished that school was closed for the day i wanted to try to do cardio. i went back to the warm up and got towards the end of combo one when viola came out with the broken camera(i don't even know how she snuck it in her room she is like a ninja sometimes). once dh was up and in a mood then it was hard to get back into it. i tried but just couldn't focus. at least i got SOME cardio. i guess i can always do some fast vinyasa flow yoga later for a cardio effect. the cool thing about body max is that there is some stretching after warm up and that you stretch through the upper body segment. so i got it twice with the warm up and inbetween all the muscle groups so i didn't really skip my stretching. she doesn't focus much on upper body stretching during the ending cool down of this workout anyway it seems most of it is during the actual weight segment.
this one is more equipment heavy then her body max 2 program in that you use barbells and various dumbbells. now for me i use an ez curl bar for my biceps and a tricp bar for triceps exercises using the bar. so i had 3 barbells out already LOL so equipment workouts get pretty heavy for me. but its worth it to know that i have things in proper alignment. with straight bars my wrists tend to curls and hurt so i use these two special bars. at times i also use the ez curl bar for shoulder work b/c its usually lighter then the straight barbell that i use for back and chest.
this upper body workout is "sick"(as the kids are saying these days LOL) in that it seems like long sets with little rests between sets. she does give you some break between exercises and moving from muscle groups to muscle groups. she goes chest/back/shoulders/biceps/triceps/abs. its typical stuff otherwise chest presses,LOTS of push ups(use used modified while use my perfect push ups). super hard. back was flyes and rows as well as two sets of one arm db rows. shoudlers were side lateral raises, upright rows and military presses, biceps were hammer curls,bb curls, and the infamous crazy 8's, triceps were close grip presses, skullcrushers, and kickbacks as well a looonnnngggg set of dips off the step. abs were her typical non stop crunch variations for sides, lower, and overall abs.
this workout cannot be purchase on dvd on its own you have to get the whole power hour+ dvd that has 3 workouts on it. power hour, maximum intensity strength, and body max. its worth the buy even though they are older workouts. it was one of my first cathe purchases and i have never regretted the money spent on it!
