KETTLEBELLS!!!!

well but first yesterday i did basic flex yoga from caribbean workout's yoga dvd. just good stretching postures. felt nice and just the right intensity.

yesterday i bought my first set of KETTLEBELLS. one 15lber and one 20lber. for today it was the 15lber from empower. this was the last one at target for $30. i went with two different brands so i can get two different dvds since each one came with a dvd. this one came with a gin miller dvd but since i don't believe its instructional i put it to the side until i am more experienced. instead i did the dvd from go fit iron core way that came with the 20lber. it starts with an instructional segment with form pointers and her breaking down the form and moves but also allowing to get a few good practice reps in there. then there is a 7min follow along workout. some things i don't think i am ready for while some things was like DAMN can't wait to do that again. turkish get ups were hard. i was trying to do them WITHOUT the bell but i just can't seem to get my foot work proper on it so have to do some more searching to see if i can get a better explanation or should i say more detailed and DUH LOL.

she (sarah lurie)does plenty of swings which i enjoyed b/c it didn't feel like resistance work but more cardio although my shoulders are a little fried now. front squats, cleans, and military presses were also standard in the moves she showed. although the last 3 mentioned COULD be done with weights,it definitly feels different with the kettlebells. IN FACT i think i may do my squats with the bells from now on. it was certainly just as hard as using a barbell but not as uncomfortable. with the cleans i kept banging into my forearm. i have heard this is something newbies do, gets better with time. overall i enjoyed the experience and can't wait to try more workouts with the bells. apparently a little dab will do you with these workouts b/c i don't think i spent much time with the dvd. half an hour maybe a little over.

does this mean i given up on my weights. well NO i spent much time and money and searching for great workouts for them. i just have to be creative to fit all this in. i may cut down to only certain exercises using the dumbbells/barbells while using the kettlebell. and also using the kettlebell for standard weight exercises like the squats, back rows, shoulder presses, etc. i am a pretty smart chick i think i can find way to incorporated all. but on the other hand if i get more hooked on the kettlebells i may sell some of the weight plates OR consider getting the kettlebell handles to which you make your own size bells using weight plates. but this is all in the future and for the now i want to make the most of my new experience!
