afternoon folks,
bad start to my weekend yesterday when the idiots at payroll forgot to do the direct deposits so dh's check wasn't in the bank yesterday morning. thankfully he gave them an earful and it was showing as being processed this morning. so things are good.
while i was steamed b/c of it i did manage to get my step work out in. i did low impact circuit step only premix with cathe. it was low impact work but didn't make it anything less challenging. choreography is not to bad if you are familiar with step workouts or cathe in general. after the step combo there is a step blast segment which is going lower with your range of motion to really hit the larger muscled legs. believe me it will get you out of breath! i love the music in this one as well as the others in the series. very motivating and works very well with the combonations.
last night i did some stretching with karen voight's pure and simple stretch. i love the simplicity of the moves but she also holds them for a good length and has you focus on breathing while holding the static stretches. she is a little dry in this one but she cues well perfects form and just wants you to relax.
this morning was back on the hardcore ball with a total body weight/cardio workout. the last time i did this workout i didn't care for it but maybe b/c i was having a bad day. well not today folks! i did the biggest loser bootcamp ALL the segments. the first 20 min is okay alternating weight training with some cardio moves. the weight training was upper or lower or upper/lower combinations. i was able to use 10s and 12s here so i was feeling motivating that i was lifting pretty heavy for cardio/strength circuit workout. but the next segment, only 15 min, is what humbled me. more upper lower combinations BUT his pulses and holds made me drop to 5s and 8s. its pretty shoulder and arms intense where the first segment was a little overall body but hit chest/back/shoulders more. the last 10 min segment was all toning. use a band, tube or weights for this. not really exciting but i saw it as a great cool down b/c there wasn't any cardio so my heart rate had a chance to come down before the 5 min stretch.
i feel sore in the back/shoulder muscles already but man was i motivated during this workout. worked it as hard as a could, even though i would take a break for a rep or two but got back on that horse. i wanted to keep weights heavy so it benefitted to take a break as to not lose my form with heavy weights. so i have basically changed my mind on this workout and would like to use segments for shorter days just to get the day moving. the dvd is programmable so its what you want in what order you want it in. yeah!
going swimming today so going to do some more stretching on my own so i don't get to sore when we swim.
